On May 27, 2015, in a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge, Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives, signed an MOU with the Department of Immigration and Emigration, in order to provide a comprehensive health insurance plan for the expatriates living in the Maldives. The chief guest of the event was Minister of Economic Development Mr. Mohamed Saeed.
Speaking at the event the Minister highlighted the importance of such a plan and how it would impact the socio-economic infrastructure of the country. This will benefit everyone, including migrant workers. And he also highlighted how this will assure healthcare protection for the expatriates working in the Maldives.
The MOU was signed by Managing Director of Allied Insurance Company Mr. Ahmed Ameel and Emigration Controller Mr. Mohamed Anwar
Expatriate Insurance Plan will cover all government hospitals (100%) and from listed private medical Centers (with 15% co-payment). The empanelled medical centres will provide cashless service and to obtain this service work permit must be presented. In addition to the optional outpatient cover, Total Permanent Disablement and the optional death benefit will be provided.
The overall annual limit per person is MVR 100,000 and repatriation cost will be as charged.
